What is BYOG?
Build Your Own Game (BYOG) is GameDev India's premier game jam, bringing creators from across India together to make and celebrate games. Started in 2010, BYOG is a grassroots tradition for India's game development community, a space to experiment, collaborate, learn and turn ideas into playable games.
BYOG is one of Asia's oldest and longest-running game jam series, with a history of discovering and encouraging game development talent from across the country. You can participate solo or bring your team; experiment with a new idea, try out a new tool, or simply collaborate with other creators.
Take part to:
- Make and ship a playable game within a limited time window
- Turn an idea into something people can play
- Build with fellow developers, artists, designers and storytellers
- Get your work seen by the wider game development community
No matter where you are or where you're at in your game development journey, BYOG is about making something together.
BYOG 2026 ran from Oct 1–4, 2026, challenging participants to interpret this year's theme, "Everything Is Temporary", and make a game within 72 hours. Thank you to everyone who participated in BYOG 2026 and helped make this our biggest edition yet. And thank you to IGDC for supporting GameDev India and BYOG.
